Alongside the smell of freshly cut grass, burnt matches and onions frying in ghee, sits freshly laundered clothing. For me, these smells are very comforting and evocative, but, not enough to spout seven volumes of work. Stepping into At The Well then, is truly warm and fuzzy. With a background hum of washing machines and driers and the air filled with the smell of washing powder and fabric softener, this laundrette doubles as a cosy cafe. With access to WiFi, cupcakes, coffee and tea, waiting here for your clothes to spin and dry is a relaxing way to pass the time. My favourite is their Butterbeer Latte; hot steamed milk infused with butter and sugar, with cinnamon sprinkled on the top. Created for Halloween, I really hope they keep it on the menu. And, they make pretty good pancakes too.
